Registry Office
Welcome to the Registry Office.
This is where members and applicants handle the practical side of HSFGR: membership, fees, policies, official identification, registrations, transfers, and record updates.
Start with the membership information below. Once you understand the requirements, you can apply for membership or, if you are already a member, submit goat paperwork.
Start Here - Membership Basics
Apply For Membership
HSFGR is approval-based. Membership is an inclusive privilege for those committed to our shared values of honesty, animal welfare, and breed preservation. We do not offer automatic signups. Applications must be complete and accurate to be processed.
Apply for Membership Your application will be reviewed, if accepted you will receive an email with next steps.
Member Services: Registration & Transfers
- Certificate Delivery – is digital, your certificate will be emailed to you. File it on your computer or print it. Electronic certificate verification is available to all members and show hosts.
- Registered Name Length Checker – Before submitting a goat registration, use this quick tool to test your proposed registered name. HSFGR registered names may contain up to 35 characters total, including spaces, hyphens, apostrophes, and punctuation. This tool is provided as a convenience and does not reserve or approve a name.
Registered Name Length Checker
Try up to three HSFGR registered name choices and see whether each one fits within the 35-character limit.
Letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens, apostrophes, and punctuation all count. This tool is provided as a convenience and does not reserve or approve a name.
Tip: Count the full registered name exactly as you plan to submit it, including herd prefix, spacing, and punctuation.
- You will need to describe your goat. Use the button below to build a description.
- HSFGR Goat Registration & Move-Over Application
This form may be used to register a new goat, move over a goat from another registry, transfer an HSFGR-registered goat to a new owner, or request a record update or correction.
We’ve made this application easy for members: you enter your owner and farm information once, then add up to 10 goats in the same submission. This is especially helpful for herd registrations, move-over applications, new member registration packages, and multi-goat updates.

Genetic Testing & Optional Registry Records
Office Note - Quick Read
Accepted genetic information may include parentage verification, congenital myotonia testing, scrapie susceptibility testing, G6-Sulfatase Deficiency testing, Alpha-S1 Casein testing, freemartin testing, or other relevant genetic reports from recognized laboratories.
Genetic testing is not required for standard HSFGR registration unless specifically requested by the registry for clarification, verification, or a special circumstance. Genetic results do not replace visual evaluation, pedigree review, breed type, structure, temperament, coat assessment, myotonic expression, or veterinary diagnostic testing for infectious disease.
HSFGR may record eligible genetic test results when the submitted report includes sufficient animal identification, owner information, test date, laboratory name, result interpretation, and a unique report or sample identification number.
